US Embassy Warns of Credible Mass-Casualty Threat at Moscow’s Tsaritsyno Reserve

The US Embassy in Moscow warned on Saturday, 31 October, of a credible threat of a mass-casualty event at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve, and urged people to avoid the site and nearby area.

Bloomberg reported that the embassy said it was coordinating with Russian authorities. The warning identified the museum reserve in Moscow but gave no further details about the nature of the threat.

The embassy also advised people to stay alert and avoid crowds. ArtDependence reported that its alert recommended keeping mobile phones charged, carrying identification and monitoring local media.

Separately, News.az reported that Russia’s Federal Security Service told the state news agency Tass it had received information from US partners about preparations for a possible terrorist attack in Moscow and was taking measures.

The available reports do not identify a suspect or explain the alleged threat. Bloomberg’s report did not say that an attack had occurred; the warning concerns a potential incident.
