Polish police have launched a preventive security operation in northeastern regions bordering Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave after receiving warnings of possible sabotage, Notes from Poland reported on 2 November.
The operation covers the Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie regions and includes additional police officers, including counter-terrorism forces. National Police Chief Marek Boroń told broadcaster RMF that police were coordinating with the army, Border Guard and security services, according to the report.
Notes from Poland said RMF, citing unnamed sources, reported that Poland’s Military Intelligence Service and allied agencies issued a warning last week about possible sabotage along the border, potentially involving armed groups crossing into Poland. The warning concerns a possible threat; the reporting does not establish that an armed crossing or attack has occurred.
UNITED24 Media also reported that a special operational headquarters was established at National Police Headquarters to coordinate the response. Polish police said details of the operation were confidential, leaving its precise deployments and duration unclear.
