Active Shooter Report at Tampa-Area Citi Bank Center Prompts Police Response

A large police response was reported Wednesday at Citi Bank Center in Brandon, near Tampa, after unconfirmed reports of an active shooter prompted a shelter-in-place warning for the surrounding area.

WFLA reported that Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies and SWAT units were at the corporate campus. Aerial footage showed SWAT units moving through the site, the station said.

WFLA said the centre is near East Dr Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Interstate 75. The sheriff’s office asked people to avoid Queen Palms Drive and Falkenburg Road while crews worked in the area, according to the report.

Times Now reported that a Hillsborough County emergency alert urged people in the Sabal Park Business Area in East Tampa to shelter in place after reports of an active-shooter threat. Posts on X also described a shelter-in-place warning, including a post by C_Post_News.

The police presence and SWAT response have been reported, but the available reports do not independently confirm that a shooting occurred. No reliable details were provided about injuries, a suspect or whether anyone was in custody. The nature and status of the incident remain unclear.
