The Woodlands High School in Texas was placed on lockdown on Wednesday, November 4, after a threat was made by phone, Conroe Independent School District said. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported no injuries and no evidence of shots fired on campus.
Deputies responded and secured the campus, according to an update from the sheriff’s office published by Woodlands Online. The statement said multiple law-enforcement units remained on campus and asked people to avoid the area because traffic was hindering first responders and school buses.
The sheriff’s office said students, including those who had driven to school, would be taken by bus to a designated parent pick-up location. The school was to send the location to parents by text message. Officials said students and staff were safe.
ABC13 reported that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded. The outlet said Lone Star College in The Woodlands was placed on lockdown as a precaution in response to the high-school threat.
The school is on Research Forest Drive in The Woodlands. Officials had not disclosed the nature of the phone threat or identified who made it. ABC13 reported that the investigation was ongoing.
