Deputies Clear Bomb and Active Shooter Threats at West Florida High School

Escambia County deputies cleared bomb and active-shooter threats at West Florida High School in Pensacola on Thursday morning, and students were allowed to return to campus, according to WEAR-TV.

The school went into lockdown after a report of a possible explosive device on campus. The sheriff’s office said there were two threats—a bomb threat and an active-shooter threat—and neither was deemed credible, WEAR reported.

Deputies searched rooms at the school and found no evidence of an explosive, the Pensacola News Journal reported, citing the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. The office said it was still investigating where the threats originated and would seek to hold those responsible accountable.

The sheriff’s office did not release further details about the threats in the reports available. The reports did not identify anyone suspected of making them.
