U.S. stock futures mixed after tech-led selloff ahead of Friday’s open

Developing: U.S. stock futures were mixed in premarket trading on Friday as investors weighed the previous session’s sharp technology and artificial intelligence-led selloff, according to FXStreet and a separate premarket market update posted by the account marketsday.

FXStreet reported that Dow Jones futures were down 0.37% near 52,870, S&P 500 futures were lower by 0.07% and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.16% in European trading on Friday. In its report, the outlet said the mixed tone followed Thursday’s rout in technology shares, when the Nasdaq Composite fell 2.6% and the S&P 500 dropped 1.21% while the Dow edged up 0.02%.

The marketsday post, published at 09:34 UTC, gave a similar pre-open snapshot, saying Dow futures hovered near 52,925 points with a slight gain, S&P 500 futures were up 0.33% and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.88% as traders tried to stabilize after the prior session’s tech-led slide.

Both reports described a cautious start to the session rather than a new shock event. The market focus remained on the prior day’s selloff, which was tied to renewed concerns about artificial intelligence spending and pressure on large-cap technology names. FXStreet also said escalating tensions in the Middle East were adding to risk aversion.

At this stage, the premarket moves remain a developing market update, and the exact opening direction of U.S. equities will not be known until the opening bell.
