Victims Reported After Shooting Near FAMU’s Bragg Stadium in Tallahassee

Victims were reported after a shooting on Perry Street near Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee during the university’s homecoming weekend, but the number of victims and the extent of their injuries were not immediately known.

The Tallahassee Police Department was investigating the shooting on Saturday evening. A report by The Mirror, republished by AOL, said police confirmed the incident on Perry Street at about 8:44 p.m. ET and that TPD spokesperson Alicia Hill told the Tallahassee Democrat, “There certainly are victims.”

Earlier reporting reflected uncertainty about injuries: WTXL reported that police did not yet know the number of victims or the extent of any injuries. WCTV reported that officers were at Perry and Manatee streets and that FAMU urged people nearby to avoid the area or shelter in place.

Florida State University’s Tallahassee campus also issued an emergency message saying it was aware of reports of an off-campus shooting near Bragg Stadium. The university alert did not provide further details about casualties.

Authorities had not released a victim count or information about the injuries in the supplied reports. The investigation remained ongoing.
