Riley Herbst Says He Is OK After Heavy Crash at Talladega NASCAR Race

Riley Herbst said he was OK after a heavy crash in the closing laps of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. He was helped from his No. 35 Toyota and taken for medical evaluation, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

The crash occurred with five laps remaining, as a multicar wreck unfolded. The News-Journal reported that Herbst hit the outside wall before a second impact at the inside wall. He was evaluated at the infield medical center and released, the newspaper reported.

In a post-race video published on NASCAR’s official website on Oct. 25, Herbst confirmed he was OK after the impact. Racing News quoted him telling USA Sports, “Yeah, I’m okay. Thank you.”

Hindustan Times reported that Herbst left with a cast on his wrist, but the supplied coverage did not identify a specific diagnosis. He was among several drivers involved in the late-race wreck.
