Fairfield police respond to reported shooting at Solano Town Center; casualty figures unconfirmed

Fairfield police are responding to a reported shooting at Solano Town Center, but the number of people injured has not been confirmed.

CBS Sacramento reported that police were working on a shooting incident at the mall on Friday night. Fairfield Mayor Rick Vaccaro told the outlet it was a shooting, but said he did not know how many people had been injured.

The Fairfield Police Department described the situation as an “active incident” in a post cited by the Hindustan Times. The department said further updates would be shared on its social media pages. The Mercury News also reported that officers were responding to an active incident at the centre.

CBS Sacramento said police expected to hold a press conference that night. Early reports on social media made claims about casualties, but those figures had not been confirmed by officials in the reporting available.

The incident was reported at Solano Town Center, a shopping mall in Fairfield, California, near Highway 80. The circumstances of the shooting, any injuries and whether anyone was arrested remained unclear.
