Aircraft Incident Under Investigation in Greenacres; Casualties Unconfirmed

An aircraft-related incident near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North in Greenacres, Florida, was under investigation on Sunday afternoon, with no confirmed casualty figures released in the available reporting.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office told WPBF that an incident involving an aircraft was being investigated along Military Trail, between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North. The sheriff’s office said both northbound and southbound lanes were closed and advised motorists to avoid the area.

WPTV reported that video from the scene showed flames, heavy smoke and debris across the roadway, while the circumstances and cause had not been confirmed. Greenacres Fire Rescue told WPBF that the incident was outside the city boundary and that four units were assisting with triage or fires.

Local outlet BocaNewsNow reported that its information indicated a small plane had crashed into a mobile home, but said it remained unclear how many people were aboard or whether anyone was inside the home. The outlet reported that no one had been transported to area hospitals at the time of its update. That account had not been confirmed in the sheriff’s statement reported by WPBF.

The aircraft’s identity, the cause of the incident and whether anyone was injured or killed remained unconfirmed in the available reports. The road closure remained in effect until further notice, according to the sheriff’s office.
