Residents in Sedona evacuation zones 8, 9 and 10 were told to leave immediately on Sunday, Nov. 1, as Oak Creek rose amid flooding, according to a Coconino County emergency account alert.
The alert directed people in the zones to evacuate to Sedona Red Rock High School and warned them not to cross roads where water is running. It said Oak Creek was rising quickly and flooding could occur suddenly.
Arizona’s Family reported that the GO status covered zones on Sedona’s east side, mostly around Oak Creek. The station said the designation means residents must leave immediately. ABC15 also reported that city officials described the creek as rising quickly and urged people to stay away from creek beds and washes.
Flooding also closed the pedestrian underpass at Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village, according to a Sedona News post. The outlet separately reported that several neighbourhoods and resorts along Oak Creek had entered GO status, citing an email from Sedona’s communications and public affairs manager.
Evacuation and safety guidance
