Iranian media have circulated public guidance on how to respond to a possible nuclear explosion, including instructions to seek shelter and limit exposure to radioactive contamination, according to reports published on 3 November.
India Today reported that Iran’s official news agency IRNA carried an educational video on 29 October. The outlet described it as an eight-minute advisory issued during Passive Defence Week. UkrMedia also reported that the video was produced with emergency services in Isfahan province. The guidance was also reported by other media on 3 November.
The instructions advise people not to look directly at an explosion’s flash. Anyone caught outdoors is told to take cover, lie flat and protect their head and face; after the blast wave passes, they should move into a building and stay away from windows and exterior walls. The reports also describe advice to shut off ventilation drawing in outside air, remove potentially contaminated outer clothing, wash exposed skin, use bottled water and packaged food, and remain sheltered for at least 24 hours.
Reports differ in how they describe the timing: India Today says IRNA published the video on 29 October, while Voice of Emirates reported that Iranian state television broadcast instructions on Tuesday, 3 November. The available reports do not establish whether that was a new broadcast or further circulation of the earlier video.
The advisory describes what civilians should do in the event of a nuclear explosion. It is not evidence that an explosion or attack has occurred, or that one is imminent. The reports do not provide independent confirmation of preparations for a strike.
