Several accounts on X reported on 3 November that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard may have shot down a U.S. drone near Minab in southern Iran, but the incident and the aircraft’s identity remain unconfirmed.
The reports began appearing on X from about 20:53 UTC. BeamTracker said the reported shootdown was above Minab, in Hormozgan province, and noted that the drone model was unclear. Later posts repeated the claim; HedgehogGeopol attributed it to an IRGC claim and described the aircraft as a U.S.-made Switchblade 600, while also noting there was no independent confirmation.
That model identification has not been established. The supplied reports do not verify the circulating footage’s location or show that the wreckage, if depicted, is from a U.S. drone. The U.S. government’s response and any details about the aircraft’s mission or the circumstances of the alleged shootdown were not available in the reporting reviewed for this article.
A separate report should not be taken as confirmation of the Minab claim: ABNA English reported on 3 November that the IRGC said it had downed a U.S. MQ-9 over the eastern Strait of Hormuz. That account concerns a different location and aircraft, and does not independently verify an incident near Minab.
The Minab report remains developing. The available information does not establish whether a drone was brought down there or, if so, who operated it.
